So we’re tiny housers… but it wasn’t always like that. We used to be renovators, buying our first house 5 months before our wedding (and we were young when we got married…). I moved in and Mr Right joined me right after we started our journey into wedded bliss and consequently also home renovations. It’s safe to say that Mr Right is pretty much awesome at anything handimanness related….well there’s not much he’s not awesome at, with the possible exception of singing …. no really. So we got stuck in and ended up with a rather fantastic little result, if I say so myself.
Fast forward a few years, overseas living and a few kids later and Mr Right proved his complete awesomeness again by building a new, just short of 200sqm house. And Mr Right is not a builder by trade, in case you haven’t figured by now…he’s simply awesome, that’s all. 😉 I might have mentioned that already….
And then….came the Christchurch earthquakes. And with it came hours on the phone….frustration and waiting waiting waiting…
On top of that our lovely beautiful home needed cleaning….. a lot. Because when you have almost 200sqm of space, pristine white walls and toddlers…well….nuff said right? The mortgage kept going out, the insurance kept going up and so did the rates. We’d planned to sell our house and move into the country so the kids would spend more than 20 minutes outside every day….(and therefore less cleaning as an added bonus) but we couldn’t sell…we were waiting on the powers that be and their completion of endless amounts of paperwork.
So once we finally were able to sell, we decided to go small. Tiny in fact. Not for long term necessarily, just as we tried to figure out what we could do next. And that’s what we did. We bought this 2015 Passport American Trailer…and it wasn’t exactly pretty, but we worked on it…and here are the results. 🙂
We recently sold it and moved on for various reasons, but we loved it and loved living in it. 🙂
Before in all it’s brown dark glory:
After in it’s much more appealing (to us anyhow) tiny house glory:
